Welcome. This is the Frolich Human Biology sample blog. Here you will find an example of what your first blog posting might look like. Then you will also find a sample of how you should organize all the postings for one unit of the Frolich Human Biology course. Good luck and Happy Blogging!

SAMPLE INTRODUCTORY POSTING

This is an example for your introductory blog entry. Please complete this by the end of the first week of class or you’ll be dropped from the course roster. Once you've done this first posting, please send me the URL or web address for your blog by e-mail to:

Remember that you need to post an image that represents yourself (hmmm...). This could be an actual picture, an avatar, or whatever...but you must post an image in your introductory blog entry.

· What you hope to achieve during this class: Find out how it works having students post their work to a blog!

2. My son was born in Ibarra, Ecuador.

3. I used to raise carnivorous plants.

COMPENDIUM REVIEW--CELLS (unit one)

This posting, along with the following four postings, represent what would be the total work you post for Unit One of the course. These five postings will include the following:

• two compendium reviews
• one ethical issue essay
• the results of the online lab activities
• your lab project writeup with photos.

It does not matter what order you post these assignments to your blog. But they must all be posted by the deadline date for that unit. Please plan ahead--these entries require a lot of time, especially the compendium reviews and the lab project.


Each compendium review posting will be its own blog entry like this one and the next one.

Be sure you include a table of contents or outline or concept map at the start. Then, paste in your entire review of that topic according to that outline. These postings form the core of what you are learning--they are very time-consuming. Be sure you give yourself enough time to do them by the due date for the unit.

COMPENDIUM REVIEW--GENETICS (unit one)

The second topic for Unit One is Genetics and the compendium review for that topic should be it posted to its own blog entry.

ETHICAL ISSUES ESSAY--unit one

Each ethical issue essay will also get its own blog posting. These take a little less time, but do need to be edited well in order to get an "exemplary" rating.

Be sure you read the website links related to that ethical issue posting and follow the directions on the website. [link]

ONLINE LAB RESULTS--unit one

The online labs will have results or an assignment that you must post to your blog, one posting for the online labs from each of the four course units.

LAB PROJECT--unit one

The lab project from each unit will include detailed instructions for what you need to post to your blog. These will always include photos of the process of doing the lab. So be sure you get your digital camera or can digitally develop film photos. Each lab project will get its own blog posting.
